September 30th, 2009 Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

As usual, the Dolce and Gabbana fashion show was extraordinary. For Spring 2010, Dolce and Gabbana juxtaposed feminine with masculine, showcasing both power suits and tight, girlish dresses.

Dolce and Gabbana seem to have taken inspiration from Spain. The tailored suits seem to be a feminine version of a bull fighter’s uniform; a style that is [...]

September 30th, 2009 Gucci Division Platform Pump

These Gucci Division Platform Pumps are perfect for the girl that lives in black attire, and already has her basic black shoes yet wants something a bit updated. The platform on these shoes ensures comfort, and these are definitely anything but your basic black pump.
Looking closely, there is black patent, but it is trimmed with [...]

September 30th, 2009 Madewell Shearling Low Boots

When Fall and Winter roll around, there are some days when it is just too cold to get super dressed up, or wear heels for that matter. These Madewell Shearling Low Boots are the perfect option for those days when you have to get out of bed to run errands, but the thought of getting [...]

DSquared-Jeweled-Velvet-Sandals

Rocker chic meets ultra glam in these fabulous, just released, DSquared Sandals. Are these not the perfect way to dress up a pair of skinny distressed jeans or leggings – whatever, as long as it's fitted and stops at the ankle. These shoes must be appreciated in all of their fierceness. Draped with pearls, crystals, and silver chain, these shoes are jewelry for your feet. They have a 4.5 inch heel and a 1 inch platform, so they will be relatively comfortable. I absolutely love these shoes! $1,096 at zappos.com.

Marc-by-Marc-Jacobs-Ankle-Tie-Boots

I really like these Marc by Marc Jacobs Ankle Tie Boots to complete a look with a dress and tights. Also, they're somewhat comfortable with a 1 inch platform and a 4 inch heel, for an overall 3 inch feel. They are a really cute, stylish  boot for the Fall. There are only size 7 and 8 left, $304 at Zappos. .

September 30th, 2009 Dolce & Gabanna Spring/Summer 2010 shoes

Dolce-&-Gabanna-Spring/Summer-2010-shoes

I'm never sure what to expect with Dolce and Gabanna shoe collections. They are almost always over the top and not realistic for normal, everyday wear. This Spring/Summer 2010 collection, however, is fabulous in all of it's rocker, street chic. I love that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabanna look and partly used black lace and fishnet material instead of the overused stud trend to achieve their look. It's reminds me of new generation blogger meets 1985 Madonna.

The shoes have a purposeful, unfinished, unpolished look, a detail that extends to the sole of the shoe in some cases (Check out the sole in the 2nd picture below). The lace and fishnet addition works with the sandals as well as the more conservative pumps. Genius collection, I believe. This collection is sooo not my style, yet I must have a pair, preferably the burlap pump with the fishnet "sock".

September 30th, 2009 Fendi Spring/Summer 2010 shoes

Fendi-Spring/Summer-2010-shoes

The Fendi Spring/Summer 2010 shoes were OK, nothing special, but not bad. They are simple sandals covered with lightweight mesh material that wraps around the ankle, with lots of extra material for an extra bulky bow. The interesting aspect of the shoe, is the transparent platform, of course. It gives the shoe a futuristic, utilitarian look. My favorite are the shoes with the rose tinted platform, but I'm not sure I like them enough to spend the big bucks. Ho hum.

September 30th, 2009 Gucci Spring/Summer 2010 shoes

Gucci-Spring/Summer-2010-shoes

Bravo to Freida Giannini for an absolutely stellar Spring/Summer 2010 shoe collection. Gone are the realms of romance, hippie, and disco, previous dumbing-down collections that I thought were beneath the prestigious label. This collection, from the clothing to every accessory was pure sex appeal. She started the show with white leather sandals, featuring a sky high stiletto heel, but as the show progressed and the shoes went from grey to black, bondage became an obvious theme.

These shoes certainly aren't for everyone, myself included, but I have to applaud F. Giannini for creating a collection that is purely for one type of woman and not the masses, a risk during economic recession. While I couldn't pull off these shoes, after this collection, Gucci handbags are back on my radar.

Just a side note on how fabulous the presentation was: the models had pedicures so their nasty toes don't ruin the overall impression of the shoes. Other designers should take note. *cough Marc Jacobs.

September 30th, 2009 Versace Spring/Summer 2010 shoes

Versace-Spring/Summer-2010-shoes

I loved the Versace Spring/Summer 2010 shoe collection, everything from the floating, futuristic soles to the bright pastel patterns. Donatello Versace said this collection was inspired by Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (which comes out next March). "I loved the idea of that fantasy land," she said. The inspiration took the shape of mixing vivid pastels, geometric prints, and baroque curlicues. The platforms and sky high heels are back for spring, but DV's are different. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there is space between the bottom of the shoe and the sole, making a very interesting profile. This collection is bright, fun, and hip.
